Using the MobiMicrobe® Yeast Single Cell RNA-Seq Kit, single‑cell resolution mapping of subpopulation division in growth‑synthesis coupled yeast populations was achieved. It was revealed that coupling does not eliminate heterogeneity but rather confines high‑yield functions to specific subpopulations. Moreover, single‑cell data enabled the discovery of novel synthetic biology targets that are completely overlooked by bulk transcriptome analysis.
